Davidson Incorporates Unique Design Elements into Homes

by Davidson Team on March 27, 2005

Davidson succeeds in a market dominated by titans, by incorporating unique design elements into his new homes. In business since 1978, Del Mar homebuilder Bill Davidson has taken home the local building industry’s annual Grand SAM award 11 times. No San Diego-area builder has won more design awards from peers within the industry for its homes than has his Del Mar-based Davidson Communities, recognition that has extended to many national honors as well.

Davidson has carved out a niche by building expensive homes that capture San Diego’s essence: perfect climate, Spanish heritage and famous architects. “He’s got a great eye,” said developer William Ostrem, president of the EastLake Co. In appreciation for the San Diego weather, Davidson took the dining room outdoors in one of his models, topping the dining area off with a massive iron candelabra.

In regard to home and product design, “When this is what all the other builders are doing, that’s when I exit,” says Davidson.
